The Montauk hotels on this list are the ones I personally suggest to friends and family when they come to visit, and places I can confidently vouch for in terms of location, quality, and overall experience.

Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa

Why Stay Here: Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa is Montauk’s most luxury hotel option and the largest resort in town. If you are a luxury traveler or are celebrating something special I would highly recommend booking an oceanfront room at Gurney’s.

Imagine waking up to the sound of the ocean waves and making your way out to the balcony to watch the sunrise… it’s heaven!

Gurney’s is a full service resort located on 2,000 feet of private beach. I’m talking a beach club, multiple bars and restaurants (having a drink at the fire pits outside is a favorite!) and a full service spa. To top that all off – anywhere you look you’ll have spectacular views of the ocean.

PS: this property is open year-round! If you are visiting Montauk in the winter I highly suggest a Gurney’s stay – it is extra cozy!

Montauk Yacht Club

Best For: boat lovers and couples | Location: 32 Star Island Rd | Book Here!

Why Stay Here: Montauk Yacht Club is the next biggest resort in Montauk but with a completely different vibe than Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa. Located on Lake Montauk, Montauk Yacht Club features a full service yacht club and marina as well as a 107 room hotel.

This Montauk hotel also features two outdoor pools, pool club, tennis and padel courts, paddle boards, a small lake beach and multiple restaurants on site. I love eating at the outside bar next to the pool in the summer – you really feel like you’re on vacation!

The hotel is located just 5 minutes from Ditch Plains beach, 5 minutes from Montauk town and only 2 minutes from Montauk Harbor where there are lots of water front restaurant options in the summer. If you love being on the water this hotel is for you.

Marram Montauk

Why Stay Here: Marram Montauk would be best described as barefoot luxury hotel. This oceanfront property is minimal but really well done. Enjoy beach chairs and umbrellas right out front on the beach or a lounger at their oceanfront pool.

If you’ve come to Montauk for rest and relaxation this is the place!

Marram is my top pick for couples who want to be away from the busyness of town but within walking distance of everything town has to offer. There are so many great restaurant and bar options just a 5 minute walk away. Not to mention their cafe Mostrador Marram has amazing food and really talented pastry chefs. (don’t miss out on trying a Medialuna!)

Hero Beach Club

Best For: fitness minded and families | Location: 626 Montauk Highway | Book Here!

Why Stay Here: Hero Beach Club is one of my favorite hotels in Montauk! Like Marram, Hero has a barefoot casual vibe and just on the outskirts of downtown Montauk. You can walk into town or take one of their complimentary bikes!

Located just across the street from Kirk Park Beach, Hero is on my favorite stretch of beach in Montauk and just outside of the busy town zone. Enjoy their large bean bag chairs and umbrellas set up daily on the beach and then take a dip in their pool in the afternoon.

Their rooms are spacious, bright and beachy – chic. Although Hero is not right on the beach and just over the dune you can still hear the ocean waves. Hero is also a great hotel for fitness enthusiasts. In the summer they host several different fitness and wellness classes on their amazing lawn daily.

Montauk Beach House

Why Stay Here: The Montauk Beach House is a great option for couples or friends who want to be in the mix. The Beach House is located just one block away from Kirk Park Beach and one block away from Montauk’s Main Street.

All of the rooms face into the communal pool area which hosts fun events and DJ’s on the weekends. Grab a cocktail at their bar, order some lunch and claim your lounger around the pool for the day before hitting up one of my favorite sunset spots in Montauk.

Sole East Resort

Why Stay Here: Tucked away behind town, Sole East is where couples and families can go to get away from the summer crowds in Montauk. The historical hotel, built by Carl Fisher in the 1920’s, features an on site restaurant and bar as well as an outdoor pool and beautiful lawns.

Sole East is just a 3 minute drive to Navy Road Beach on the bay side and 5 minute walk to Kirk Park Beach on the ocean side! You are just short 10 minute walk into town or you can hop on one of their bicycles.

Daunt’s Albatross

Why Stay Here: Daunt’s Albatross Motel is my favorite affordable Montauk hotel! Located in the center of town just one block from Main Street and one block from the ocean and beach this location can’t be beat.

The motel was fully gut renovated in 2022 and features warm tones and cozy rooms. An added bonus is that some rooms come with a small kitchen.

The Albatross also has an outdoor pool and (in my opinion) the best breakfast spot in Montauk called Bird on the Roof just across the street. The restaurant also serves an amazing dinner and yummy cocktails.

Why Stay Here: The Breakers Motel is located on the Old Montauk Highway and just across the street from the ocean on my favorite stretch of beach in Montauk. The motel is set up in small cottages that dot the property around a central pool and restaurant/bar.

Briney Breezes is a small motel that offers one of the more affordable places to stay in Montauk, especially for travelers who want a quiet, laid-back home base. Located along Old Montauk Highway, it’s a good option if you’re looking for something simple and comfortable and plan to spend most of your time out exploring Montauk rather than at a full-service hotel.

This is the kind of place I recommend to friends who want to experience Montauk without paying resort prices, and who value a relaxed atmosphere over extra amenities.

Royal Atlantic Beach Resort

Why Stay Here: The Royal Atlantic is one of the most budget hotels (not always reflected in the price) in Montauk that is also oceanfront. In my opinion the hotel and restaurant need a lot of renovations and revamping – but if you really want to wake up to the sound of the ocean and ocean views (I get it – I would too) and your budget won’t allow for Marram or Gurney’s – this is a great more affordable option.

This is also a great option for families with kids! The Royal Atlantic is located directly on Kirk Park Beach, has an outdoor swimming pool and a bar/restaurant on site.
