The Laylow Waikiki hotel is a modern-chic hotel that has just the right amount of Hawaiian charm.  Located on Kuhio Ave, one block from the famous Waikiki Beach, the hotel has a great boutique hotel feel even though it is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. From our room, the modern pool, proximity to Waikiki beach, the Hideout restaurant at the Laylow, and their super accommodating staff this hotel is seriously to die for!

The Hotel

Decorated with vintage Hawaiian wallpaper, The Laylow Waikiki’s appearance and aesthetic is just so darn cute!  After admiring our room (honestly the wallpaper is goals) and cozy bed, we headed down to the pool to enjoy some afternoon sun and a little snack poolside.

Take a dip in the pool or lounge in the chairs half-submerged in the water. After fueling up, we signed out two beach cruisers (complimentary!) and headed to the beach for a sunset surf.

Watching the sun set from the water and the beautiful late afternoon rays hitting the city was just magical! This might have been my favorite evening of our entire trip in Hawaii!

Tip: there is a complimentary $50 voucher to be used towards booking a tour through the hotel concierge. Tours range from Pearl Harbor, a luau and snorkel trip.

The Hideout at the Laylow

The Hideout restaurant inside the Laylow is not to be missed. Although the hotel and restaurant are in the middle of the city on a busy street, you really never feel that way.  The bar area is super trendy with an outside lounge area complete with a fire pit to drink your cocktails around.

Everything on the menu looks great – breakfast, lunch and dinner. We came down for dinner and started with the Wonton Poke tacos and the Laylow “Hawaiian Style” Mai Tai. I had the Local Island Fish with a cilantro pesto and Brent had the Piggy Marley pulled pork sandwich. Everything was so delicious and we ate it all. Seriously, we left extremely full and had to take a lap around the city afterwards.

But don’t forget to come back downstairs (or call for room service) in the morning for amazing coffee and some bakery treats from the Hideout Coffee bar!

Around The Laylow

Waikiki Beach

An 8 minute walk from the Laylow or a quick bike ride away! Pick up a surfboard or a snorkel while you are here. Make sure to come at sunset, it was so beautiful watching the sun set over the water and in front of the city.

Shop on Kalakaua Avenue

The same stores you have any where else in the world along with every surf brand’s store front. But it’s still fun to get a Hawaii branded T shirt to bring home or gift to someone!

Duke’s Waikiki

We stopped into Duke’s for a drink. Great bar with standard food right on the beach. It’s a Waikiki staple – just stop by!

The Royal Hawaiian & The Moana Surfrider

The Royal Hawaiian & The Moana Surfrider are two hotels right on the beach that I wanted to check out and grab a drink at. Both places had crazy picket lines marching and chanting outside. We avoided both. I’d love to come back and visit these hotels out sans strike.

There are a ton of other things to do in and around Waikiki if you have a few days in the area! We decided to hang out on the North Shore of Oahu for a few days before ending our trip at the Laylow for our last night.
